Nature's mysterious communication

It was an unseasonably warm day in winter when Jon planned to come over. Earlier that month he had stepped back from some of his duties at his production company, Variable, and shared that he was looking to shoot some more short films capturing one's home life and inner dialogue. We decided a short film on plants would be suitable.

An hour of shooting was distilled into this 1 minute and 30 second piece. At the time, I had been reading the book, An Invention of Nature, chronicling the life of naturalist Alexander von Humboldt. The quote that I make mention of in the film is from that fabulous book—a highly recommended read!

Later that day, after filming, the sunset worked its way through the windows and it was utterly breathtaking. I hadn't seen such a rich amber glow of light. I was happy to have caught some of the moments on camera. 🌿
