Botanical Tours
We’d be happy for you to join us on one of our guided group botanical tours to different countries to experience plants both in the wild and in botanical gardens. Our 2026 trips are below:
JAPAN BOTANICAL GROUP TOUR
November 8-14, 2026
Join me for an unforgettable adventure from Osaka to Kyoto—a cultural and botanical odyssey that unfolds during one of the most breathtaking seasons of the year. Over 7 days, we'll discover Japan’s timeless traditions, iconic cultural gardens and shrines, bustling markets, and natural wonders, all wrapped in the golden hues of autumn. Travel like locals on Japan’s efficient metro and subway systems as you get a true sense of place. Wander through the lively Kuromon Market, where the aromas, flavors, and colors of fresh produce and local delicacies awaken your senses. Step into the tranquility of historic shrines and gardens framed by brilliant fall foliage. Stroll through one of Japan’s great botanical gardens, learn the art of whisking matcha, and experience the magic of Nara’s Deer Park, where sacred messengers of the gods roam freely. This carefully curated itinerary blends botanical bliss—both under glass as well as in the landscape, culinary delights, cultural exploration, and natural beauty into a rich tapestry of experiences that we'll all explore together. Each day brings a new perspective on Japan’s landscapes, history, and traditions, creating memories that will last long after our journey ends.
Please note: Japanese cuisine often contains animal products and/or gluten. Unfortunately, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and shellfish-free diets cannot be accommodated for the included meals.

COSTA RICA BOTANICAL GARDEN GROUP TOUR
DECEMBER 8-13, 2026
We'll be making our way through a series of botanical gardens to the beautiful forests of Sarapiqui, Costa Rica—and staying at premium hotels and eco-lodges along the way. Once we're in Sarapiqui, we'll have the opportunity to explore the primary rainforest and also experience some of Sarapiqui's agricultural treasures with tours of an old cacao farm and an organic farm, where you'll get to experience the sustainable harmony between cultivation and conservation. As night descends, we'll embark on a guided nocturnal adventure, exploring the mysteries of the forest with a captivating night walk. And on our way back towards San Jose, we'll continue to explore some of Costa Rica's botanical gardens with private tours.
COLOMBIA BOTANICAL GROUP TOUR
FEBRUARY 13-19, 2027
We’re off to the South American country, COLOMBIA, which literally has dozens of words to express “love”—from the friendly, affectionate kind to the lustful kind (ask me how I know ;).
How appropriate considering that as plant lovers—we all experience a range of love and desire when it comes to plants. We'll definitely be experiencing that firsthand as we travel through THREE of Colombia’s 13 ecoregions, including the Antioquia-Magdalena Tropical forest; the Andean montane cloud forests; and the Cauca Valley dry forests. We’ll begin in Medellín, which transformed itself to a vibrant, cultural hot spot, visit their impressive botanical garden and hike to see unique (and often endemic) plants in the wild. Later we’ll head to the lush highlands of Pereira and Salento, to enjoy hot springs in the most idyllic setting and an orchid nursery and farm. Afterwards, we’ll journey to the Cocora Valley to stand in awe of towering wax palms, visit more botanic gardens, and experience the traditions of an iconic coffee plantation firsthand. We’ll finish the adventure by flying back to Medellin, where we can gather together and share the experience in a final dinner together. Hope you can join us on this incredible experience in the Land of Love
